Today I’ve got another free amigurumi pattern for you!

This one is a bit less complex than Hugo and is more complementary than standalone. There are a lot of patterns out there for crochet hearts of all kinds, flat and 3D, but I still wanted to create my own. I also decided before I got started that I wanted to make a pattern for several sizes, for flexibility.

I did scribble a little bit first to have something to start with. I started crocheting the medium heart first, turned out bigger than I expected so I adjusted my notes to make that one the big heart instead. Other than this tiny hiccup they turned out pretty much exactly how I wanted them to. I’m honestly just so pleased with the shape of them. It’s actually better than I thought it’d be.

About the pattern

You can buy a cheap bundle of two beautifully formatted PDF versions of this pattern on Etsy. One version uses color, while the other is made in black and white to be more printer friendly.

Here’s the link to the Crochet Hearts Ravelry page, if you would like to start a project there.

Disclaimer: This pattern is an original pattern by Nea Creates, it may not be redistributed in anyway, shape or form. If you want to share the pattern you may link to the pattern post, you may not repost the pattern on your site. Items completed from this pattern may be sold, provided that you give Nea Creates credit for the pattern and provide a link to the pattern post or homepage.

Finished size: Big 11×12×5cm, medium 8×9×4cm, small 5×6×2cm, (h×w×d).

Difficulty: Easy, only joining the tops of the hearts is a bit complex.

Notes: This pattern uses US crochet terms and SI units throughout. I use a smaller hook size than what the yarn calls for to get tighter stitches. You only need to use the suggested yarn weight and hook size if you want to obtain the same approximate finished size as specified above. This pattern will produce a well proportioned heart using any yarn weight and corresponding hook size.

Materials & Tools

– A 4mm crochet hook
– Yarn calling for a 5mm crochet hook (I used Favorite by Ice Yarns)
– Stuffing
– Stitch markers
– Scissors
– Yarn needle

Abbreviations & Stitches used

  • yo – Yarn over
  • st(s) – Stitch(es)
  • mr – Magic ring/circle/loop
  • sl st – Slip stitch
  • sc – Single crochet
  • inc – Increase, make two single crochets in the same st
  • idec – Invisible single crochet decrease, a regular decrease is also fine but the invisible decrease is prettier

Pattern – Crochet Hearts

The method of joining the tops of each size heart and closing is the same so I’ll only picture it once below.
