Hey guys!

I’m working hard on finishing the pattern for Emma the Easter Bunny right now but I thought I should post something in honor of Saint Patrick’s Day as well.

Crochet these super cute Shamrocks and Four Leaf Clovers for Saint Patrick's Day using this simple, quick and free crochet pattern! You could use them to make a garland or a hair band or put them on a wreath, the possibilities are endless!

These are two super simple patterns for a Shamrock and a Four Leaf Clover. I prefer crocheting them using a magic ring/circle/loop just because I think it’s easier to close and gives a nicer finish. I highly recommend that you learn how to make a (double) magic ring, I will upload a written and video tutorial on this at some point. However, if you don’t feel comfortable using a magic ring, I have also provided the instructions for using an extra chain instead!

I made a bunch of these in different colors using both a magic ring and an extra chain. In the end you really can’t tell the difference, it’s just more work using the extra chain. I made all of the Shamrocks and Four Leaf Clovers into a garland simply by threading some yarn and pulling it under a loop on each leaf twice, and it turned out super cute!

I have not consulted any other creator’s pattern when designing this pattern but since they are so simple there is a risk that someone has already made these exact patterns available somewhere on the internet.

Finished size: When finished both the Shamrock and the Four Leaf Clover measure approximately 5cm high and 4cm wide.

Difficulty: Easy.

Notes: This pattern uses US crochet terms and SI units throughout.

Pattern – Shamrock

Using a magic ring/circle/loop:

N! Create a mr.

R1 ch 5, sk 1 ch, ss in each ch across (4), ss to the mr, [ch 3, tc in the mr, hdc in the mr, tc in the mr, ch 3, ss to the mr]×3, close the mr, ss to the stem as far down as possible

N! Leaving a bit of a yarn tail cut the yarn. Yo and pull completely through the loop on the hook to create a knot. Weave in both ends on the backside of the shamrock. Shape the leaves with your fingers and you’re all done!

Not using a magic ring/circle/loop:

N! Usually when I create a slipknot I tighten it with the working yarn, but for this pattern create a slipknot that is tightened by pulling the yarn tail and put it on your hook.

R1 ch 6, sk 1 ch, ss in each ch across (5), [ch 3, tc in the mr, hdc in the mr, tc in the mr, ch 3, ss to the mr]×3, pull on the first yarn tail to tighten the very first ch, ss to the stem as far down as possible

N! Leaving a bit of a yarn tail cut the yarn. Yo and pull completely through the loop on the hook to create a knot. Weave in both ends on the backside of the shamrock. Shape the leaves with your fingers and you’re all done!
