So, after much hard work I’m finally able to post the pattern for the Sleepy Puppy Lovey!

You may or may not know that I do not have any kids of my own, but that doesn’t stop me from wanting to make cute baby stuff! Even though it took me ages and I really suck at embroidering, I’m pleased with how the pattern turned out.

As per normal I used Ice Yarns’ Favorite to create my puppies, which is mostly because I didn’t have any babies in mind for them. Favorite is an acrylic yarn which really isn’t optimal for babies, it’s better to use natural fibers and yarn that doesn’t pill. I considered making another puppy in a 100% cotton yarn but decided that it’d be better to get the pattern posted.

When I write patterns I tend to avoid sewing as much as possible, because sewing is not as fun as crocheting, right? So the blanket is actually crocheted onto the head of the lovey, only the ears and nose need to be sewn on. The pattern is quite easy too and contrary to how long it has taken me to post the pattern, it works up quickly. I hope you like it!

Size: A Sleepy Puppy Lovey measures approximately 27cm from the head to the edge of the blanket and 44cm between two opposite corners of the blanket.

Difficulty: Easy+

Notes: This pattern is written in English, US crochet terminology and SI units are used throughout. I use a smaller hook size than what the yarn calls for to get tighter stitches in the head, ears and nose. Head, ears and nose are also crocheted in continuous rounds while the blanket is crocheted in closed rounds. I used white for the primary color, gray for the secondary color and sea green/vintage pink for the accent color.

N Leaving a yarn tail, cut the accent color yarn & carefully make a knot with it & the primary color yarn tail.

T For the row after a color change, crochet around one yarn tail in the beginning of the row P10 & around the other in the end of the row P11. This way you don’t need to weave them in later P12.
